CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHAMBER'S YOUTH OF THE YEAR, SVHS STUDENT ELANA WEINGORD

2016 Youth of the Year Elana Weingord Scotts Valley High School.  Elana is a full International Diploma Candidate at SVHS. Her athletic endeavors include: Varsity Tennis Team, Santa Cruz Coast League Champion & California Regional quarterfinalist, Scotts Valley High School Track Team and enjoyed the Pole vault and the 200-meter race were her favorite events. Other extracurricular activities included Mock Trial, President & Lead Defense Attorney. County Finalist, Student’s Advisory Board Representative, Represent and discuss the Santa Cruz County’s youth perspective on upcoming governmental policies to our local congresswoman, Ms. Eshoo, Scotts Valley Unified School District Student Representative, served on the SVUSD Board of Trustees and represented the student’s perspective on any controversial topics, Student Government, Freshman Class Vice President, Interact - Rotary International, County Treasurer, SVHS Interact President, District Council Director. Elana has been bestowed the following Awards: • Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award • California State Seal of Biliteracy Award • IB Learner Profile Award “Communicator,” • Scotts Valley Unified School District Student Representative Award • Principal’s List, 2014, 2015, and 2016 • Rotary International Outstanding Achievement Award, 2014, 2015, and 2016 • California Scholarship Federation Lifetime member and President • Homecoming Court Nominee, 2016 • Santa Cruz County Mock Trial best Defense Attorney, 2015 and 2016 • American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program — Alternate for the State CA, 2016 After high school, Elana plans on attending college and studying government policy.
